Dear all
How is a champion displayed strategically? The problem of the
champion led to his defeat. I mean Mr. Ding of China. He needed only a
draw. So he played for the draw from the beginning. But Gukesh needs to
win. And in that process Ding went one piece down. But positionally with
the extra pawn Gugesh cannot dream to win at all. And Ding was running down
the clock. Gukesh had enough time. Ding could have moved his Bishop. There
was no check situation also. But perhaps Ding would have thought that if
Rook is removed , draw is certain, So Ding moved the Rook to f2. Yes, that
was the advantage of the extra piece holder. So rook was cut and offered as
a forced cut followed by Bishop's removals. Then the road with the extra
[iece victory is certain. So Ding resigned. K Rajaram IRS 131224
