Thanks, made nice reading. Sound - Oli, has a profound influence on us and good music (sound) elevates our thinking and helps us to relax. Vedas are taught, not by reading but by listening to what and how the Guru recites the mantras - to the Pronunciation and sound. The vibrations of the Vedic Chanting is auspicious and even today so many of us play it even if we don't understand their meaning. They have a soothing effect. I remember the opening scene in the Tamizh film Thillana Mohanambal where Sivaji, (playing the role of a Nadaswara Vidwan) stops his recital saying the sound of the crackers have disturbed his and the audience's concentration BUT Padmini counters him saying there is music in all forms of sound, irrespective what they are, IF ONLY one cares to appreciate them and lists those forms of sound. ( that dialogue is one of the many I enjoyed listening to, in that film) Such is the power of Sound. Saint Thiruvalluvar has said so in a Kural - Selevathul Selvam SEVI Selvam Achselvam Selvathul Ellam Thalai. Yes, he meant primarily to listening to words of wisdom but listening to mantras, slokas, music all elevate us. "கல் பொருது மிரங்கு மல்லல் பேரியாற்று நீர்வழிப் படூஉம் புணைபோல்" ஆர்ப்பரிப்பு ஆரவாரம். இதில் மர இலைகள் விழுந்தால் இன்னும் ஒரு சலசலப்பு ஸிம்ஃபனி. இரண்டு மர இலைகள் எழுப்பும் சப்தம் வேறு வேறு. பனையோலை. தென்னை ஓலை. அரச இலை எல்லாம் தமக்குள்ளே ஒரு தனித்த சப்தம் வைத்துள்ளன. இதில் பறவைகள் விலங்குகள் ஏன் பூச்சிகள் சேர்ந்தால் வேறு வேறு ஒலிகள். பூச்சிகள் உலகின் 90 சதவீத உயிரினமாம். சுவர்க்கோழி என்று கேட்டிருக்கிறீர்களா? குழியானை தெரியுமா? எல்லாமே ஒலி எழுப்பும். ஒரு உஸ் புஸ்ஸாவது உண்டு. நமக்குத் தெரிந்த கிளிக் கொஞ்சல், குயில் குலாவுதல், கோழி கூவல், புறா மூளல் அப்புறம் குருவி மைனா எல்லாம் ஒலி எழுப்புகின்றன. அது இயற்கையின் சித்ர சபை. பாரதியின் வசன கவிதை வாசித்தால் தெரியும். எங்கள் வீட்டின் அருகே அழகான ஒரு சூழல். தென்னை சலசலப்பு. காக்கத் தம்புராட்டி ஒலி. குயில் கூவல். கிளிக் கொஞ்சல். அணில் சலசலப்பு. காலை நேரம் பார்த்துக்கொண்டே இருக்கலாம். மேலே பறக்கும் கருடன் பருந்து எல்லாம் காணலாம். பெரிய பறம்பு அதில் உடும்பு உண்டு. அடுத்த நீர்நிலையில் மீன்கள் உண்டு.
