Hi all ,
I have been mulling round in my head over the past few weeks about linking
2 canister filters in series on my large bedroom tank that contains my
Pardalis & Panagasius Catfish ( mainly due to waste output lol) at present
the tank is running with an Eheim Ecco 2236 ( old version) and 2 internal
filters Interpet (Hydor) IPF Duo3 & Fluval 3+, currently I have an Atmann
1 600l/ph sitting idle since I took down one of my 60 ltr tanks last
year,
The reason for the idea was to use the Atmann as either a prefilter to the
Eheim or as a water polisher before it returns to the tank , because the
gunk that comes out of the Eheim at the moment when its being cleaned is
unreal luckily it seems algae wont grow in my tanks but loves my filters
even though they are kept in dark cupboards all the time , My Idea was if I
used the Eheim as the main filter for the Mechanical & Biological filtration
then the return feed that would normally go back to the tank is fed into
the other filter which would just be using both media trays filled with
filter floss then the return from that filter goes back into the tank.
Only thing I have concerns about is whether having the 2 nd filter pulling
water through would upset the Biological filtration in the 1st by pulling
thewater through to quickly .
Any suggestions pls or pitfalls I might of missed ?
