Hey there everyone! I was thinking that I should let you all know how
the anti-parasite treatment went for my big blue cichlid? Well it
appears to have been successful but only time will tell (hence my
previous attempts with different methods, etc.). I used jungle
parasite clear tabs. I pre-dissolved them in a cup of dechlorinated
water like the instructions say, then I poured it all into the
aquarium. I treated the aquarium for a total of 1-month give or take a
few days. I changed 33 or so percent of that aquarium’s water once a
week and immediately after changing it I added the full standard dose
of anti-parasite tabs. That parasite (or whatever it was) that I have
blabbed about on this forum hung around until sometime after half of
the treatment time so that tells me it was one tough sucker (no pun
towards leaches as it wasn’t any leach I have ever heard of).
Everything appears good now. My aquarium’s chemistry read fine last
time I checked with the standard aquarium test kits, except I can’t
reliably measure nitrates as my test kit for that is horrifically
inaccurate in one extreme or another. Summary – I just thought I would
report the good news and let you all know I will be keeping an eye on
that big blue cichlid! Can’t think of too much else to say except I
have been getting creative with saving all of my fancy guppy fry when
changing water (by pouring some debris free (but colored) bucket of
wastewater the fry are in into a buffer container that makes me not
have to move fry one by one with the net dozens of times, and it saves
time) and I have been creative in some other ways that make my
cleaning more efficient, etc. and the hobby has really been letting me
reap the rewards of becoming more creative by letting me more
appreciate the pets I have. Anyhow – I am happy! :-) Good luck all and
later!
