History: Borne in 1758 in Auvergne, France. He is the 7th son of the Marquis de Lioncourt and Gabrielle de Lioncourt. Lestat lived in his family's castle until he was 12, when he was sent to a monastery to study. When his father learned of his desire to become a priest, he was brought home immediately. When he was 16, he ran away with a troupe of Italian actors, but was brought back by his brothers. He became a hunter for his family, in order for them to surivive. When he was 20, he went on a wolf hunt and killed a pack of wolves that had been terrorizing the village. He became a local hero, and was dubbed Wolfkiller. After this hunt a friend, Nicolas de Lenfent, reappeared. They would often talk long into the night at the local inn, and Nicolas would play his violin. Together they ran away to Paris to be actors. They were employed at Renaud's House of Thesbians. Lestat performed under the alias Lestat de Valois. By 1779 both he and Nicolas were famous. During the winter of 1779/1780, Lestat was kidnapped from his and Nicolas's flat by Magnus, and transformed into a vampire. Magnus cast himself into the fire immediately afterwards, and Lestat inherited his enormous wealth. WIth this wealth, Lestat bought Renaud's. During this time, his mother had become deathly ill. At the last moment, Lestat turned her, and therefore became his first fledgling, Gabrielle. After a few months, a Parisian coven located under les Innocents (a graveyard) kidnapped Lestat and Gabrielle. They had also captured Nicolas. After convincing the coven to disband, he turned Nicolas into a vampire. WIth remnants of the coven, Nicolas changed Renaud's into the Theatre des Vampires. (The earlier troupe of actors had been sent to London by Lestat.) From 1780 to 1790 Lestat and Gabrielle traveled across Europe, Egypt, and Asia Minor. When learning of the death of his family, with exception of his blind father, he parted with Gabrielle and "went into the earth." He was rescued by Marius, and went to a sanctuary, where Those Who Must Be Kept were stored by Marius. Later, finding out his father was in New Orleans, he left Marius and went there. It was there he met and turned Louis de Pointe du Lac, on the outskirts of New Orleans. Together, he and Louis lived at Louis's plantation, until the death of Lestat's father and a slave rebellion. He and Louis lived in New Orleans, where Louis mortally wounded a child, Claudia, and Lestat turned her, creating a forbidden vampire child. In 1862, Claudia attempted to destroy Lestat. She and Louis ran away to Paris. Lestat, thanks to his ancient and powerful blood given to him by Magnus, survived and also went to Paris. There he was deceived by Armand (leader of the Parisian coven Lestat disbanded) into testifying against Claudia. Two years later, after Claudia's destruction, Lestat returned to New Orleans to regain his power. In 1929 he "went into the earth" once again, reappearing in 1984. After reading Louis's book, Inteview With The Vampire, Lestat publishes an autobiography, and starts a cult band named The Vampire Lestat. In his book he shares vampire secrets which outrages some vampires. During his band's concert in San Francisco, on Halloween Night, most surviving vampires gathered and were destroyed by Akasha, the Queen of the Damned. Lestat was kidnapped by her, and became her companion. He returned to the others with her to witness her death. A little while later he recorded the events in his new book, Queen of the Damned. He appeared in the London Talamasca Motherhouse, and had a conversation for the first time in Talamasca's history, a mortal, David Talbot. (Later turned vampire.) |
