The Lion's Grove: Vampires: Information: Types of Vampires
There is really only one kind of vampire: one who feeds on outside energies.
However, they can be broken down into categories and sub-categories based on
the types of energies and feeding methods.
There are two main categories of vampires.
Blood vampires - Commonly referred to as "sangs," "sanguinarians,"
"sanguines," "blood vamps," and the like, they usually have regular donors
from whom
they feed. They will occasionally feed on animal blood, though this seems to
be a rare occurence. They ingest blood for the energies found within.
Energy vampires - Those who feed on energy directly. These vampires are
generally referred to as "psivamps" or "psychic vampires," and just about any
variation in spelling between. They are able to sense and manipulate energy,
pulling it into themselves to replenish themselves.
This group can be further broken down into those psivamps who feed on
specific types of energy.
Sexual Energy vampires - These individuals feed on energy produced during
sex, or produced by any other sexual activity or influence. They are often
referred to as "pranic" vampires, however, I feel that this is a gross
misnomer.
"Prana" very roughly translates to "breath that gives life" is -not-
primarily sexual in nature. Sometimes these vampires choose to go by the terms
"incubus" or "succubus," named after the sexual vampires of folklore.
Elemental Energy vampires - These individuals feed on energy from nature and
elements (such as the earth, thunderstorms, the moon, etc.). They are
commonly referred to as "elemental vampires." There is some debate on whether
these
people can actually be labeled vampires as they don't feed on other people.
There is also come debate about whether or not elemental feeding is
beneficial in any way, or if elemental energy is even compatible with the
human energy
 system.
There are some "types" of vampires that I don't personally acknowledge,
mainly because they don't make much sense to me.
Empathic vampires - These vampires claim to feed on emotions. Emotions are
textures, patterns, flavors of energy. To say that you are feeding on emotion
is like saying you are feeding on the taste of pot roast. The term "empath"
is also misused in this context. Empaths do not feed on emotionally flavored
energy, they sense and feel the emotions of others. There isn't necessarily an
energy exchange occuring.
Most other "types" of vampires I feel are just unnecessarily specific forms
of the vampires already mentioned.
