Angelique's Cure Chapter 5
From: Beverly LaCroix
Chapter 5
The Abduction from the Tower Room
"Stop it!" Angelique whispered hoarsely as LaCroix continued his teasing
with his hands and tongue.
"Okay, if that is what you wish," LaCroix said as he stopped abruptly.
Angelique looked up from the cot, her eyes denying what her words said, she
helplessly watched the tall blonde man pick up his shirt. He was
broad-shouldered,
he had a well-muscled, and well-defined chest, he looked as if he were
sculpted of marble, so beautiful. She could tell the rest of his physique was
not
lacking either. His presence commanded subservience, and respect, and she
wanted to serve him as she had wanted to serve no other, and now he was going
to
leave! She knew he wasn't human, that he was a vampire, she also knew he was
very old, and very very powerful. Even Petofi didn't give off the kind of
ancient power that Lucien LaCroix did. She noticed he was buttoning his last
button as she lay there staring at him, mouth wide-opened like some kind of a
silly girl, who had been treated like a cheap whore, and she had come very
close to behaving as such. But deep down she knew he didn't think that way, he
was to far removed from such human pettiness.
His eyes were shades of red now, he was waiting for her to make her move, as
he knew she would. What was taking her so long he wondered.
"Angelique!" a familiar voice thundered into the room.
LaCroix protectively stood in front of Angelique as she covered herself, and
a very angry Barnabas stood raging in the doorway. Quentin was not far
behind with an amused smirk on his face. Edward had refused to leave Janette,
and
Lady Kitty had insisted Monsieur DeBraband stay with her.
Nicholas had agreed to stay knowing LaCroix could handle Barnabas, as he had
done during the trouble that had involved Janette, and Quentin Collins had
stopped him from destroying Barnabas. Oh well, he would enjoy the company of
this beautiful woman, that the very much married Barnabas Collins was chasing.
He didn't know all of the story about Barnabas Collins, but he knew enough
not to want to get involved in any part of it. Barnabas had been seconds away
from destroying his beautiful Janette, when LaCroix had stopped him, and
almost put an end to Barnabas for good. It would not have been pretty.
Nicholas
shuddered to think about what would happen to the person who harmed LaCroix'
exquisite daughter Janette. The last one who had tried that had owned the
aristocratic Janette met his demise in a very very frightening manner. Janette
had been the well-bred daughter of a nobleman, but the noble blue blood
running
through her veins had not saved her from being sold into prostitution. That
was the way things were handled back in the 1000's, Nick grinned as he
thought of how long ago it had been that LaCroix had saved Janette, and still
treated her like she was some fragile doll that could be broken at the
slightest
injustice.
Nicholas had used his real name this time as he did ever so often, it was
his name that cut into his reverie. Edward Collins was addressing him, he was
now holding Janette's hand ever so lightly Nick noticed.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Collins, I didn't hear you, I'm afraid I was absorbed in the
beauty of this room, and the equal beauty of this lovely lady," Nicholas
said smiling.
Angelique wished for the 100th time in the last two minutes that she had her
powers, but she had given them up for Barnabas. She knew instinctively her
powers would have been useless against LaCroix, but not Barnabas, she hoped.
The least she would have been able to do would be to get out of this most
uncompromising situation.
Angelique froze when she heard the low dangerous laughter of Barnabas.
Quentin took a defensive position and wondered if he were destined to save
Barnabas from LaCroix, when he heard the shattering of glass. In a move that
was
faster than the human eye could possibly comprehend, LaCroix in one powerful
move had swooped up Angelique in his arms, and with one kick had broken the
window of the tower room, and had flown Angelique to safety, away from
Barnabas.
LaCroix smiled as Angelique laughed in delight at the unforeseen turn of
events. LaCroix had not permitted her to be a part of any unpleasant actions
due
to her behavior or so it appeared. Barnabas was such a fool, LaCroix
thought, still smiling at the scene he had left. Barnabas was livid, Quentin
had
been smiling at the irony of the humiliation that LaCroix had visited upon
Barnabas.
Quentin thought the irony was too good to be mere coincidence. He also knew
that LaCroix had to know of their arrival to the Tower Room, he would have
heard his heartbeat. Also, Quentin did not fail to notice that LaCroix had
been
fully dressed, and Angelique certainly had not. Why was LaCroix here?
"Quentin, where is LaCroix," Nicholas asked startling Quentin.
"That's a good question, Nicholas. Now, I have one for you," Quentin was
saying as Barnabas whirled around noticing Nicholas, the anger was palpable
emanting from his being.
Barnabas grabbed Nicholas by the lapels of his jacket, and said in a low
restrained whisper, "what were you doing with Lady Kitty, deBrabant?" Barnabas
hissed.
"Barnabas! Let him go! The question you need to be asking is where has
LaCroix taken your wife? Why are you asking him about Kitty. She is not
married to
you or anyone else, and neither is NIcholas, so there being together should
be of no concern to you." Quentin hissed lowly in Barnabas' ear.
Quentin could see the gold-tinged eyes of Nicholas, and knew he had to do
something, but what!
"Cousin, let him go now! We can discuss this later or would you prefer to
have Judith involved?" Quentin asked, noticing he had finally gotten through
to
his cousin.
Quentin thought he thoroughly liked LaCroix, and his children, he loved his
cousin unconditionally, but he always wished he were on the other side of the
world than be anywhere near the lethal, very dangerous and deadly
combination of Lucien LaCroix and Barnabas Collins! One could get hurt in the
crossfire, Quentin thought as they walked down the stairs to join the others.
"Janette! What are you doing?" Nicholas exclaimed. Janette's fangs were
bared and she was ready to take the very willing Edward Collins, while the
very
frightened Lady Hampshire looked on.
Janette turned towards Nicholas, snarling, eyes blazing red, and a low growl
emitted from her, as she turned back to Edward intent on taking him.
To be continued...
