If Anne Rice died, would that mean fanfiction on the Vampire Chronicles would
be allowed? For those who don't know, she's against the use of fanfiction with
her characters. She harrassed fanfic writers to remove all of their fics off
the internet.
If Anne Rice died, would this mean that fanfiction for VC would be acceptable
again; or would legal action still be open?

by Andy i imagine it would depend on who had the rights to the stories after
her death, and whether or not she put anything about it in her will.

Thanks. I didn't even thing about someone else holding the possible rights.

They just don't get that we're not going to put it in a book or anything, it's
just all fun and it let's us re-live these characters instead of putting
something to an end T_T

Her rights to her material don't die with her but remain for the next seventy
years after her death. Whoever inherits those rights may not protect them as

If you really want to write fanfic, then write it--just don't share it if the
author is among those who protect the use of the characters, setting, and
situations she invented. Don't post it anywhere.

No, it wouldn't. And I am completely against the writing of fan-fiction. I
don't like it when a book ends, either, but basically you're stealing from the
author instead of using
