Highway to Hell
A/N: This story seems to be doing pretty good so far! I'm excited! (:
The bad news is I don't know where this story is going to go. I mean, I do, but
I have two options! Both end up with Bella getting her butt in some major (he
he, no Jasper pun intended) trouble. Erg, I can't decide! Maybe I'll do both…
DISCLAIMER: I don't own anything dealing with the Twilight Saga! I just really,
really, really like The Major!
Warning: This chapter is pretty long!
….
Last Chapter:
I walked pass a group of people and my heart stopped. Peter showed me a picture
he had with the Major, so I could spot him once I got here, and he told me
countless times that I had nothing to be scared of, but with their past and
everything he's told me about Jasper, I can't help but be scared now that I'm
personally in his presence.
I put my hands behind my back and looked him in the eye, a submissive stance,
"Excuse Me"
Chapter 2: Operation; Taunt the Cullen's
I guess I shouldn't be shocked, happy even, with the color of the Major's eyes,
but they just don't suit him. Not like red eyes would. Is it weird that half of
me is dying-no pun intended- to see him with red eyes and the other half wants
to get on her knees and thank-god he's gone veggie?
"What?" Someone's snarl brought me out of the staring competition I was having
with him. I turned my attention on to a dark-haired pixie. She looked to be
five 'one, very rich, and considering the protective hand she has on the
Major's chest, a jealous bitch. I snorted. "Calm it down, Ali, I'm not going to
try and steal your beau," I told her, grinning. Feeling as though my welcome is
over, I began to skip on my way to the office.
"Hello, how can I help you sweetheart?" The lady at the desk, Ms. Cope, asked
with a freak half smirk, half frown, on her face. I smiled brightly, said,
"Yes, I'm new here. Isabella Swan," and watched her eyes narrow as she tried to
read something off me. Huh, guess I'm too happy, I thought.
"Aw, yes, here you are," she handed me a piece of paper, smiling fully now,
"have all your teachers sign this and bring it back after your last class,
okay?" She told me in a very slow voice. This is another reason why I hate
school, teachers that make you feel utterly stupid. None the less, I grinned
even bigger.
"O-kay, Ms. Cope, th-ank y-ou," I told her just as slow and watched as her
smile faltered and her jaw locked and her eyes turned into tiny slits. I turned
to leave before I could get in trouble and headed for my first class, English,
only to suddenly find myself pinned up against a wall.
"I don't know who you think you are, but you better stay away from us," I
opened my eyes after the impact my head had with the wall, and looked into some
black ones. "Ali, I don't think Carlisle would appreciate you threatening the
new student, especially when you've got such a big secret to keep, no?" I asked
her, widening my eyes purposely to seem innocent. I snorted, innocent my ass.
"You don't know what you're talking about!" I looked behind the pixie and saw a
tall blonde, about five 'eight, with a nice body. She's beautiful in her own
special vampire way. Huh, I wonder how I missed her. "You're right, I have no
idea what I'm talking about," I agreed.
While they continued to yell at me, pinning me further into the wall, I managed
to snake my hand into my back pocket and take out my lighter. What's the point
of being a vampire if you can't stop a human from getting the one thing that'll
kill you? I flicked the lighter open and managed to singe the pixie's hair
before she backed off and realized what was happening. "Come after me again and
I'll burn both of you like Pixie dust," I grinned at them and opened my eyes
wide again, innocence coming at me from left and right, "bye-bye know," I
skipped into the building, all bubbly and happy.
Lunch
By lunch time I was the talk of the school and wished everyone would shut their
damn pie holes. One rumor, that's getting on my nerves more than all the rest,
is that I'm dating Mike Newton, already! The kid is a burden! Why would I go
out with him? Who the hell could even start that rumor? I turned Mike down all
five times!
I walked into the cafeteria and it got noticeably quieter as I walked towards
the lunch line. I rolled my eyes at the people who stared and went to sit with
my new friend, Angela. "Hey Bella," She hugged me, and surprisingly, I hugged
back, "This is Jessica and Lauren," she introduced me to her friends, the
bimbo's.
Everything was going smoothly so far. Angela and I debating on whose better,
Pink vs. Avril L, and the bimbo's were gawking at ever other guy that walked
pass are table; until the Cullen's decided to grace the cafeteria with their
presence. I rolled my eyes as Rosalie and Alice glared at me and turned back to
Angela.
"Oimygawd," Jessica squealed, "the Cullen's are trying to get your attention!"
I rolled my eyes and stared at her, "what the hell are you talking about?" I
asked as nicely as I could. Of course, I already knew they would want to talk
to me, since I know about the 'secret'
"Oh, stop being a bitch and be happy that they want someone like you to even go
over there, usually they don't pay attention to plain chicks," Lauren snapped.
My hands, without my permission, closed into to fist and before I could even
think about it my fist was connecting to Lauren's face. "I'll stop being a
bitch when you stop opening your legs," I spoke calmly, "but unfortunately,
that'll never happen," I sat back down next to Angela and watched as Jessica
ran out the cafeteria trying to catch up with Lauren.
"It's about time," Angela congratulated me, "but seriously, the Cullen's are
staring you down," she whispered in my ear, so the Cullen's don't accidentally
hear. Not that whispering would help. I looked up and true to her word; the
vamps were staring at me, giving me their best "come hither" looks. I sighed
and got up and walked at an agonizingly slow pace. Everyone in the cafeteria
seemed to have stopped talking, hell, I wondered if any of them were breathing,
as I made my way to the table with all the beautiful people.
I sat in the extra chair at their table and everything went back to normal, I
was old news. "Hello," I smiled, not daring a glance at the Major. I really
need to remember his name, I scolded myself. "I'm Isabella Swan, new girl," I
introduced myself, even though I'm pretty sure they already know.
"Do you know why you're here?" A bronze-haired boy asked me. Edward the mind
reader. I rolled my eyes, "to get an education," I told him seriously, leaving
the 'duh' hanging in the air. "What secret do you know?" My eyes snapped to the
left, wide-eyed with genuine fear.
The Major was staring at me, waiting for my answer. I swallowed and bit back my
fear, pulling up my big girl panties I smiled, "I'll tell you all you want to
know if you guys play a game with me!" I rushed out the words, trying to make
myself seem nervous. It's time to have some fun. "I promise, anything you want
to know," I smiled at them and waited for their answer. Edward sighed and I
squealed in mock excitement.
"Okay, the game is called 'Who were they'. My best friend and I made it up back
home and the point of the game is to find a group of people and make up pretend
past. Like they were a different person before," I explained and studied all of
them, making sure they understood, I continued when I saw them all nod at
once-freaky-, "I'll go first so you can see how it works."
"Er, Rosalie was born in 1915! Yea and she grew up in Rochester, New York"
"Emmett… Hmm, He got attacked by a bear at some point and was rescued by an
angel"
"Alice, dear… She got placed in an asylum" *Big ass grin*
"Edward… He was dying of the Spanish influenza but was saved by an Angel, too"
"Blondie was a Major in the confederate army… and then was taken by the devil
herself and fought in the New Mexico/Texas war!"
I smiled at all of them when I finished my 'pretend' past for them. They all
looked frozen in their seats and their faces grew even paler-if that's
possible. I tried to keep from laughing but Edward's face looks like he ate-or
smelled-some shit and I lost all sanity when I went into a laughing fit.
"Relax a little you guys," I said after I calmed down, "it's just a game, not
like you guys really live through all that," I chuckled to play off the crazy
new girl part and skipped away to class when the bell rang. I pulled out my
notebook as soon as I got to class and began checking things off my list:
Operation; Taunt the Cullen's. Check and mate.
