Thanks for this info. It worked great, and your instructions were perfect. When I opened the dx cluster window after configuring the telnet window the spots started to appear. And, the spots were refreshing and updating as they should.

Telnet and or packet radio. A few are "web clusters" that enable
the user to connect via web browser using simple html commands.
These clusters exist separately from MixW.
MixW (and other similar software) allows the users to connect to DX
Clusters and monitor DX Spots while using MixW. MixW's standard
method if connecting to a DX Cluster is via a web (HTML) cluster .
To connect, one simply needs to click on VIEW in Mixw and then
select DXCLUSTER DIALOG. You will then get the DX spots nicely
displayed in a special MixW window.
The web based DX Cluster that MixW supports has limited functions,
compared to the "full service" DX Clusters that exist around the
world. Most of these clusters do not support connections via a web
browser, instead one connects via a terminal program on packet radio
or via a application called Telnet.
In MixW, if you want Telnet to a DX Cluster you need to connect via
a command DIFFERENT from the DX Cluster Dialog command mentioned
above. Instead, you should click on VIEW then select TELNET
WINDOW . A window will open, you then click on CONNECT and another
dialog box opens. In the section labelled ADDRESS you can enter in
the name based address of the cluster or the IP address if you know
it. The default port number is 23, and should appear automatically
in the PORT area in Mix. If the Dx Cluster you want to connect to
has a different port number, enter it in the port box.
A few you might want to try are:

telnet://198.109.212.235/ (K8SMC)
telnet://dxc.ve7cc.net/ (VE7CC)
telnet://cluster.dynalias.org (K3UK)
The above are NOT part of MixW, just some of many clusters that can
be accessed via MixW.
MixW's web based cluster dialog allows one to click on the incoming
spots and have your radio change frequency to that of the incoming
spot. You cannot do this via the cluster's in the Telnet window.
You can however, get much of this functionality by changing the
SETTINGS in the CLUSTER DIALOG section of MixW.
1. Go to VIEW
2. Select Cluster Dialog
3. In the web interface that opens up within Mix, click on the
SETTINGS icon (furthest to the right on the toolbar, it looks like a
check/tick with two columns of text)
4. In the DX Cluster Settings window, you will see an area referred
to as WEB CLUSTER. Under that you will see a box entitled SERVER
with OH2AQ.KOLUMBUS.COM entered in.
5. IF you want to point MixW to another cluster you can click on
the SERVER box and enter in the address of another cluster.
cluster.dynalias.org for example.
I think that this is all you are SUPPOSED to do in Mixw but in
reality a couple of extra steps are needed to make this work. My
experience indicates that one needs to open up the Telnet connection
to the alternate cluster first, THEN activate the Mixw Cluster
Dialog.
