Article Title:
==============

That 1970's Look

Article Description:
====================

During the 70s it was quite fashionable to have eyes which were
darkly made up with heavy black or brown eye shadow. The
"raccoon-look" was worn by celebrities, models, and movie
stars. But, as we know, fashion trends come and go, and the day
of the deeply ringed, overly made up, eyes is gone - at least for
now.

During the 70s it was quite fashionable to have eyes which were
darkly made up with heavy black or brown eye shadow. The
"raccoon-look" was worn by celebrities, models, and movie
stars. But, as we know, fashion trends come and go, and the day
of the deeply ringed, overly made up, eyes is gone - at least for
now.

The "made-up" high fashion look has been replaced by the
fresh-faced, natural youthful look. Makeup is either kept to a
minimum or artfully applied to appear so. Nothing belies that
youthful, fresh look like puffiness and discoloration around the
eyes.

Because the skin in the eye area is so delicate, it is important
to take special care to protect it. We all have natural folds in
the skin around the eyelids, which are needed to allow the eyes
to open and close. With care we can keep these folds smooth. If
we neglect proper skin care the gentle folds of the lids can take
on the look of dry, sagging wrinkles.

Additionally, as we age the skin around the eyes, which is
already thin, becomes even thinner. This can result in the blood
vessels which are close to the skin's surface showing through
the skin as a bluish tint.

There are some simple things we can do at home that will help to
freshen the look of the eyes.

Drink plenty of water: Water tends to plump up the skin, forming
a slight cushion between the thin eye skin and the blood vessels
that lie beneath the skin. Just this small amount of additional
cushioning will allow the blood vessels to remain tucked away and
out of sight.

Get a good night's rest: When we stay up late we tend to look
pale and drawn the next day. This paleness can heighten any dark
circles or puffiness that we may be prone to in the eye area.

Tea Bags over the eyes: Wet the tea bags and put them in the
refrigerator or freezer for a few minutes so that they get good
and cold. Lay one tea bag over each eye. Rest for 20 minutes,
with the dampened, cool tea bags over the eyes. The tannic acid
in the tea helps to reduce swelling and inflammation, which will
lessen the look of puffiness around the eyes.

Cucumber slices over the eyes: Cucumber slices over the eyes
have the same effect as dampened tea bags but the reduction of
puffiness is not the result of tannic acid but of a substance
found in the cut cucumber slices. The effect is the same.

These home remedies work well in the short run. But the results
are temporary and the results, although noticeable, are far from
dramatic. For more significant and long lasting results you may
need to look into finding help in the new line of beauty aids
being called cosmeceuticals.

These new beauty aids are a blend of the best cosmetic and
pharmaceutical answers to beauty concerns, like dark circles.
Scientific evidence has shown that vitamin k as well as compounds
in the peptide line are effective in treating dark circles
through regenerating the thin skin around the eyes. So it makes
sense to investigate topical creams that marry these two
substances to fight puffiness and dark circles.

One topical cream that combines these effective ingredients is
Eyederma(tm), available from The Bodestore,
http://www.bodestore.com as well as Amazon. Eyederma(tm) combines
Ocupeptide-3 along with Vitamin K, in the proportions that have
shown to be the most effective for use in the eye area. With
regular use it purports to do the following: dramatically reduce
dark circles; strengthen the small blood vessels around the eyes;
and improve overall appearance of eyelid wrinkles and fine
lines.

It is empowering to know that, regardless of our age, there are
steps that we can take that will dramatically improve the
appearance of dark circles and puffiness around our eyes. Take
some of these steps today to improve the appearance of your
eyes.
