Article Description:
====================

The alpaca is a camelid. So, what's a camelid? Camels and
llamas are examples of camelids, and so are alpacas. The alpaca
provides alpaca wool and it looks a bit like a cross between a
llama and a sheep. It has a long neck and a woolly body. It is
neither a goat, a sheep nor a llama. It is an alpaca, and its
wool is finer than that of any llama or sheep.

An alpaca shawl is lovely against your skin. It is so soft that
you can hardly feel it. An alpaca sweater will convert you away
from normal sheep's wool, and destroy your bank account because
alpaca does not normally come cheap: unless you can find an
internet outlet. Like many things, alpaca garments can be found
at discount prices if you know where to look.

The wool is so soft that is used for toys that come into contact
with young children's skin. Normal sheep's wool is soft, but
the fibber thickness is many times greater than that of the
alpaca. In fact is has been demonstrated that people who
believed themselves to be allergic to wool are not. Their skin
is simply reacting to the thickness of the wool fiber that is
irritating it. This was proved using wool extracts which showed
no allergy. No one has been proved allergic to alpaca wool.

Alpaca is even used for socks, so check the label before you give
them to the Salvation Army. These are socks you won't want to
give away. Alpaca wool is prized, and alpacas are one of the
luckiest animals on earth. There are not too many of them, and
as long as they keep their hair on, they are safe. Alpaca hair
restorer is very popular amongst the alpaca community in Peru!

Alpaca teddy bears make marvellous gifts for young children.
They are very fluffy and very soft. Young children love to
cuddle into them and it could be the answer to your child's
difficulty in sleeping. The wool will not harm them and regular
washing will keep them like new. Alpaca teddy bears are very
affordable and even an 18 inch bear is big enough for most small
children.

Alpaca wool is used in all kinds of woollen garments. Alpaca
skirts are unbelievably soft, and the capes and ponchos in the
Peruvian style are wonderful. It is not just the material, but
the design and look of alpaca that makes it such a special
fabric. It is so soft that it conforms to every shape, and this
property is useful not only in clothing, but in furnishings. An
alpaca throw will drape over your furniture without hiding its
shape.

Due to its fineness and softness, alpaca blankets are ideal as
bed coverings. Their insulating properties come from the fineness
of the fibers, and if you splash out on a couple of alpaca pillow
cases: well! You will think you have died and gone to heaven.
Just imagine spreading yourself out on a king sized bed with an
alpaca blanket and a couple of alpaca pillow cases. A tub of
fabulous ice cream and a box of chocolates, a glass of Dom
Perignon and the whole evening to yourself.

Sheer luxury and sheer heaven! That's what alpaca can do for
you.
