There is no wonder why so many people today are living with
depression. This inconsiderate, silent killer lurks behind every
corner of the globe. It holds no prejudices; affecting people of
all ages, cultures, backgrounds and financial statures, and is
factually responsible for more than we are completely aware of.

Many factors can influence the onset of depression, for instance,
a child may be undergoing the drastic separation of their
parents. What about the man with a family who has just lost his
job and has no other source of income? Could it be the sudden
loss of a loved one or failing at school? Sometimes it may even
stem from reasons unknown, but whatever the circumstances may be;
there is no argument that depression can leave a person feeling
utterly hopeless and lost.

As heartrending as it may sound, depression can be more evident
in a larger cities and urbanized community where the homeless and
unemployed populace are considerably high. In New York City
alone, 3,843 people are living in the city's streets and
subways. The brutal reality of witnessing such a struggle should
generate a sense of appreciation which compels a person to
envision their current situation as being a lot worse. In fact,
the huge percentage of people who turn up their noses to the
homeless as opposed to offering spare change or a nourishing meal
is rather astonishing. It almost poses the question, "is pride
really more important than character?"

It is rare but miraculous to see people who may be less fortunate
in terms of material wealth, yet can bare smiles brighter than
the sun on the clearest day in July. There is no mistaken that
these people are truly rich. In all honesty, the richest person
in the world may have to hit rock bottom before he/she truly
learns what it means to be wealthy. It takes a strong,
disciplined person to recognize beauty in truth. Our eyes have a
tendency to deceive us while interpreting the world at face
value. Beauty can be found in everything around us under the
conditions of a humble heart. Once we as people learn to
understand and accept the gifts of Hope and Faith, depression has
no place in our lives. Faith gives us the strength to accomplish
the otherwise impossible, while hope serves as our life line. As
long as we always hold on to hope, failure can no longer exist.
It is usually hard for people to imagine living a life free of
disappointment, free of mistakes and no regrets. This is because
if life did not allow disappointment we wouldn't know when and
how to recognize true happiness. The same goes for mistakes; if
we did not make mistakes, what would we have to learn from?
Making choices based on our hearts rather than our minds teach
us, the things that once made us smile can never be considered
regrets. Lessons come plenty in life, and are responsible for
shaping who we will become. They are the things which provide us
the answers to our purpose.

There is a reason for every situation that we are faced with,
even if it is for the benefit of someone else. Many people
sometimes feel less fortunate than others or feel like "life
really has it out for them", when in fact the more challenges we
are faced with, the stronger we will become. This could easily be
considered an honor to a person equipped with a healthy dosage of
Faith. This person would understand that life is about learning,
loving and continuously searching for its purpose.

Can you ever recall relaxing in the grass, staring at the clouds
in the sky? or perhaps watching the leaves form patterns in the
wind on a breezy fall day? There is a mystifying, silent peace
that surrounds us during these kind of connections that motivate
a detached part of us. Many people neglect the unspoken need for
inspiration which also proves a point as to how much easier it is
for one to latch on to negativity, than it is to embrace the
positive. In a society where the focus tends to circle around
worldly status, we sometimes forget or lack to see the importance
in finding our inspiration. Inspiration births the artist in us
all; allowing us to appreciate beauty its truest form. It reminds
us to value what we have, such as the ability to smile without it
costing us even a penny. Imagine how much more pain the world
would be in if hugs weren't free of charge. People who are not
naturally in tune with their compassionate or charitable side
should be able to learn a lesson or two from the very people who
have nothing but have everything. We were all put here in this
life with special gifts to share and lessons to learn from each
other. Once we all discover what inspires us individually, we
become closer to being able to inspire others.
