How to Jumpstart Your Business With Joint Ventures

Joint ventures are an old but profitable way of doing marketing.
With all the changing ways of promoting your business, this is an
old classic method that still works well. Joint ventures can be
used online or offline and are very cost effective and in some
cases entirely free. It is simply two businesses partnering
together, so that both will profit.

Joint ventures can be adapted for offline. When you swap flyers
with neighboring related businesses you are in effect doing a
joint venture with them. Or if you partner with a related
business, for example a wedding planning service with a catering
business, this is another sort of joint venture.

Here is how a simple joint venture works: One business has a
product but needs help with marketing. The other business has
marketing channels but no product. This can be a newsletter or
ezine owner with a large responsive list partnering with a
business with a hot new product. The trick to make this venture
highly successful is to be sure that both parties are
specializing in the same market.

As you can see this would work very well for a broad general
market and would work equally well for a niche market. This type
of joint venture can be used by online businesses.

How to set one up if you are the business with a product:

1. Set up your own affiliate system with reliable real time
tracking and payment system. You can either use software or a
third party service. You can also use Click Bank.

2. Find joint venture partners, by either joining a membership
site for joint ventures or seeking out publishers who have fairly
large responsive lists, or searching on Google. The trick here is
to check the ezines very carefully. You can do this by running an
advertising campaign and seeing which ones are responsive. This
will help to test your sales copy and response to your product.

3. When you have found some good publishers you are now ready to
create your proposal letter. Here are some things to keep in
mind:

 * Always be polite

 * Make them an offer they cannot refuse. Do not just ask them to
offer your product to their list, give them an incentive for
doing this. Offer them a good bonus, which will be useful for
them and their subscribers, and a good commission, like 60%.

 * Do not hype up your product, just show them the link to your
sales page and let them judge for themselves.

4. Follow up with another proposal letter if you do not hear from
them within 3-4 days. Sometimes publishers get busy.

5. When they reply be ready to answer all questions and be sure
that you have a reliable affiliate program in place.

Joint ventures can be very lucrative to all concerned. You will
have a way to jumpstart your new product and the publisher will
be able to earn commissions on every sale he makes. In this way
everybody wins. The great part of joint ventures is that they
really do not cost you anything, except maybe the cost of your
bonus incentive and they will keep on selling and bringing in the
profits for a long time to come. You may spend a little money to
begin with, but it will be well worth it in the long run.
