More money? Recognition? Work/life balance? A new job or career? A wish is something that you long for or desire. Wishes can be big like wanting a major change in your career or small like having fewer meetings to attend. Wishes are good because they give you something to aspire to. Wishes keep you excited and motivated. Everyone needs something to wish for. If you are experiencing a slump in your career, it's because you haven't defined the next thing you want to go after. You are stuck in the day-to-day and can't see your future. You feel trapped with no way out. You can create a light at the end of the tunnel if you wish more. So How Can You Make Your Wish Come True? Follow These Three Steps Below. Get Clear About What You Are Wishing For The clearer you are, the faster your wish can become real. Ask yourself, "If I could have any wish I wanted, what would I wish for" Let the answer come and do not screen yourself or talk yourself out of it. You are probably in one of two places; you either know what you want and are afraid to wish for it. Or, you have no idea. If you know, it's a matter of giving yourself to permission to let it happen. If you don't know, it's time to do the work to get clear. Say Your Wish Out Loud You would be surprised how many people are afraid to say what they want. They have to play devil's advocate and give the other side when talking about their wish just in case it does not happen. Will your wish come true? Maybe yes or maybe no. But keeping your wish to yourself won't make it happen any faster. Your wish cannot come true until you can say it with certainly and clarity. So go ahead and take a chance. Say your wish out loud. You will be surprised by how great you feel once the truth is out. Take Action Now that you know what your wish is, what are you going to do about it? What steps are you going to take on a regular basis to make your wish a reality? Remember, wishing is good, but without action, it's just a wish. Open your calendar and fill in when you are going to take action. Write down the specific steps you will take today, this week, and this month. Once you've put particular actions on specified days, don?t think about what you've entered anymore. Just do what you said you would. Wishing can be scary if you are not sure if it will come true. But once you know your wish, implementation is your game plan for getting there. So, what do you say? You only have one life to live, so it might as well be a life you love! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Deborah Brown-Volkman is the President of Surpass Your Dreams, Inc. a successful career, life, and mentor coaching company that works with Senior Executives, Vice Presidents, and Managers who are looking for new career opportunities or seek to become more productive in their current role.
