Gold Jewelry Rich And Inviting

Warm, rich, inviting gold.

Gold has tickled our fancies, and lifted our spirits for time
immortal. Since the first days when one of our ancient
forefathers found some shiny golden rock sticking out of a
boulder, pried it from it's rock prison and found it malleable,
gold has tickled our fancy, adorned our bodies and been used in a
multitude of other creations.

During the Gold Rush days, Gold tempted many a prospector to head
west to line their pockets with this golden ore. Some literally
struck gold and some went away empty handed. Many miners
persevered and kept their dreams of riches alive by digging away
in quartz or pyrite veins or whilst panning for gold in mountain
streams, yearning for this elusive golden ore.

Most gold mined for jewelry today comes from South Africa. Most
of the gold in the United States is found in Nevada and South
Dakota. Gold is even found in seawater although no viable means
of extraction have yet been found.

Gold found in South Dakota is primarily from the Black Hills. Its
name is derived from the Sioux words, Paha Sapa, meaning Hills
that are Black. These black hills holds one of the world's
richest gold deposits. The gold from this area is unique. It
includes deposits from the early and middle Proterozoic age,
Cambrian age, early Tertiary as well as more recent gold
deposits. The gold found in the Black Hills is also unique in
color and shade. The gold found here comes in three shades, a
pinkish hue, gold with a greenish tint and the more traditional
yellow toned gold.

Did you know that if you took all of the gold in the entire world
and melted it down you could form a cube 60 feet tall? On the
other hand, an ounce of gold can be beaten down to 300 square
feet!

Gold is a soft metal and quite malleable. Ever see a prospector
in an old western bite his gold nugget? Ever see a bank robber in
an old movie bite his stolen gold bar? They were testing to see
if it was really pure gold!

To give modern jewelry strength and durability most gold jewelry
today has had an alloy added to it. The term carat describes the
amount of gold present in a piece. Pure gold is 24 carats.

 * 18K gold contains 18 parts gold and 6 parts of another
metal(s), making it 75% gold.

 * 14K gold contains 14 parts gold and 10 parts of another
metal(s), making it 58.3% gold.

 * 12K gold contains 12 parts gold and 12 parts of another
metal(s), making it 50% gold.

 * 10K gold contains 10 parts gold and 14 parts another metal(s),
making it 41.7% gold

Gold is best used to its fullest potential when formed into the
finest of gold jewelry. Gold jewelry is available to everyone,
and in every price range. You'll find its warm golden hue in
every imaginable design of jewelry, from fine necklaces to heavy
chains. Gold accentuates diamond encrusted bracelets and pearl
earrings. Gold is gorgeous as simple hoop earrings or set with
pearls. It makes a perfect accompaniment or background to
diamonds, rubies and sapphires as well as other stones. Gold
jewelry is so versatile, it's the perfect accessory. A simple
gold piece goes as well with jeans and a tee shirt as it does
with your evening wear for a night on the town.

Gold is the gift to give on a couple's fiftieth wedding
anniversary, the golden anniversary. But why make her wait? Give
her a gift of gold and watch her eyes and heart light up.

Nothing warms a women's heart more than the gift of gold.
