Does Angelina Jolie Keep Cut Flowers In Her Home?

Article Description:
====================

There's actually good reason to believe that Angelina Jolie,
once well known for being dark and quirky, may have traded in her
knives and viles of blood for a vase of cut flowers. In recent
years the public has watched Jolie go from a wild child to a
mother with an enormous compassionate streak for children all
over the world. Perhaps her newly displayed compassion is a
result of flowers in her home.

A recent study conducted at Harvard University in collaboration
with the Society of American Florists (SAF) and the Flower
Promotion Organization (FPO) showed that living with cut flowers
increases feelings of compassion and enthusiasm as well as
boosting energy and reducing anxieties. It also showed that these
feelings carried over outside the home, such as to the workplace.
The study is titled "Home Ecology of Flowers" and a massive
publicity campaign to alert the world of the incredible effect of
flowers.

The public relations campaign involves making people aware of the
benefit of flowers through stories seen in the everyday news. The
spokeswoman for the campaign is the lead researcher for the Home
Ecology of Flowers study, Nancy Etcoff, Ph.D., of Massachusetts
General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The study will be
publicized through a satellite TV and radio tour in fifteen
cities across the country, including Memphis, Tenn.; Tyler, Tex.;
Kansas City; New Orleans; Fresno, Calif.; Eugene, Ore.; and
Toledo, Ohio.

In one of the interviews, Etcoff said, "We know that flowers
make people happy when they receive them. What we didn't know is
that spending a few days with flowers in the home can affect a
wide variety of feelings-from compassion to worry. What was
particularly surprising was the carryover effect-people who had
flowers in their home also reported feeling more energetic and
enthusiastic at work, too."

In addition to the satellite and radio tour, SAF and FPO will
release a press kit to the print media, target national consumer
magazines, and Internet coverage on SAF's web site,
aboutflowers.com, and flowerpossibilities.com.

By the end of the campaign, SAF and FPO hope that Americans will
have a better understanding of the important role flowers play in
our lives. When it's all said and done, the world just may be
full of happier, more compassionate people who have lots of
energy to spread their enthusiasm. And, Angelina Jolie may just
find herself with plenty of help in her own compassionate efforts
around the world.
