If Lindsay Lohan Is Hospitalized In England, She May Not Receive Flowers

Lindsay Lohan seems to spend her share of time in hospitals.
Within the last few years she's injured her foot, her leg, and
been ill. Fortunately her hospital visits have all been within
the United States because if she'd been in a certain hospital in
England, she may not have received any flowers from her loved
ones. That's because a hospital in Gorleston, England, which is
northeast of London, has made the decision to no longer allow the
delivery of flowers to patients' rooms.

James Paget Hospital representatives say the ban on flower
deliveries to the injured and ill staying in their hospital is
simply because they don't have the space for them. When hospital
administrators made the difficult decision, they took steps to
make local florists aware of the ban by sending letters to them.

Nick Covenay, director of nursing and patient services for James
Paget Hospital told the Norwich Evening News, "We are asking
people not to bring in flowers because the wards are cramped for
space and they add to the clutter. The policy was introduced so
the ward is easier to clean and manage and to keep things as
minimal as possible for emergency situations."

Although the flower ban makes things easier for the hospital, it
may not be the best thing for the patients. One florist from
Glenda's Sprig of Heather in Gorleston expressed concern to the
paper saying, "When people are sick...receiving flowers can
really brighten up their day."

The florist is absolutely right. Research studies have shown that
flowers have immediate positive improvements on the mood of those
who receive them. They've been shown to produce genuine smiles
and have a lasting effect on happiness.

Fortunately, most hospitals do allow their patients to receive
flowers. However, certain parts of the hospital may have
restrictions. For example, it's fairly common for the intensive
care units of hospitals to request that flowers not be sent to
the patient's room. Other hospitals may place some restrictions
on the size of the arrangements that can be sent due to space
restrictions.

To ensure your ailing loved one can receive your gift of flowers,
be sure to work with a florist local to the area of the hospital.
Most florists are familiar with the policies for floral
deliveries of the hospitals they commonly deliver to. You might
also wish to hold off on sending flowers until the patient
returns home to finish his or her recovery. Your gift of flowers
will help speed the recovery process just as well at home as they
would in the hospital.

One thing is for certain, if Lindsay Lohan is ever shooting a
film in Gorleston, England, she should be extra careful not to
become ill or injured-if she is, she might have to wait until her
hospital stay is over to receive her get well flowers.
