But, with a little help from your florist, you needn't feel like gift buying is a mystery. Your florist is an expert "detective" and can help you create the perfect gift for anyone on your list. Flowers are an extremely versatile gift that can be given to anyone for any occasion. You can give the to your mother, father, brother, sister, aunt, uncle...ANYONE! Both men and women enjoy receiving flowers, and green or flowering plants are a welcome addition in any home. While we generally think of flowers in connection with happy occasions, like birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and weddings, they are also a wonderful way to cheer up someone who is feeling ill, sad, or stressed. In fact, in a recent survey, flowers were voted second only to jewelry as the gift most likely to make us smile. Or, if you need to say you're sorry, flowers were also voted the number one gift to help get us out of the doghouse. Perhaps the reason flowers are such a popular gift is because they are so personal and they really say that someone has taken the time out of their day to think about you. Experts agree. When asked why flowers are such a popular gift, Robyn Spizman, a gift expert and author of The Perfect Present, said, "Our favorite gifts are the ones that allow us to express emotion and make us feel special. They are personal expressions of our feelings for each other." She went on to say, "As times and technology change, it's still the personal touches that are most meaningful. Make every gift count." One of the things that make flowers an easy gift to give to anyone is that they are so easy to personalize. When you order flowers, let your florist know who they're for, the occasion, and a little about the person receiving them. Tell the florist if the recipient has favorite flowers or colors and if there is a special interest you'd like incorporated into the arrangement. Your florist will be happy to tuck in almost any item you supply that will make the gift even more personal. So, take the mystery out of your gift buying experiences by enlisting your florist as an expert gift detective. There's no Da Vinci Code to solve-just an easy call or visit to let your florist know how he or she can help make your gift the most special and personal one the recipient will receive all year. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Wesley Berry is member of the American Academy of Floriculture (AAF) and President of Wesley Berry Flowers, a successful multi-million dollar floral business that was established in 1946.
