Beta: Thanks to for the beta. Disclaimer: Not mine. 1/1 "Oooh, this is tight. Are you sure you have prepared everything properly according to directions?" Harry asked. Harry heard the long drawn out sigh and hid the bitter grin threatening to break out over his face. Turning, he faced the man who'd sighed. Once again, Harry was struck by the strangeness of the situation. Severus Snape, the man he was suppose to loathe, stood facing him. In the cage that now made up Harry's home. The light had won, only to lose to their allies a month later. The man was a dark beauty and seemed to fill the room with his presence. He no longer resembled the man Harry had grown up hating. Instead of a greasy mop of unkempt hair, he now sported a lush waterfall of ebony. His pasty, washed out complexion was now a healthy, glowing tan. Gone were the clothes that hid him from neck to foot. Instead, he wore tight fitting pants and a emerald green T-shirt. It seemed Muggles were good for some things in his eyes. Eyes that shone with intelligence, cunning and compassion. That was undoubtedly the strangest thing of all for Harry to see in his jailer's eyes. Compassion; but it was there. Harry called his rooms a cage, but they in no way resembled one. The room was large and lavish. There were entertainments to be had and a large four poster bed that sported Slytherin colors. He had a large bathroom and an excellent view of the gardens. Harry loathed it. He was only halfway happy when he was allowed visits with his friends and family. Like himself, Ron, Hermione and the rest of their friends had become the property of the new ruling government. A government comprised of Lucius and Draco Malfoy, Remus Lupin, Severus Snape and Blaise Zabini. No one could quite figure out how the group had got together, but they had. Ron belonged to Draco while Hermione had been claimed by Remus. Surprisingly, Ginny and Charlie Weasley had been claimed by Blaise and Lucius respectively. The Weasley's seemed to be handling their new mates and status better than Harry himself. Even Hermione was accepting the changes in her life. Of course, they had it easier than Harry himself did. Oh, he wasn't abused, and belonging to Severus was nowhere near terrible, but he wasn't allowed to leave his rooms and the only time he was allowed to do magic was under Severus' careful supervision. After all, he had killed Voldermort, and they were all sure he would turn against the new regime. No one wanted to listen to him when he told them he had no intention of doing any such thing. "I prepared everything quite well, Mister Snape," Severus said, bringing his attention back to the man. "Hmmm...I guess you would make it this way. After all, you wouldn't want the troublemaker to escape," Harry said with faint bitterness as he once again tried to twist the bracelet onto his arm. Severus sighed again. He did not blame Harry for his bitterness, he just wished there was a reason not to believe the bracelet was needed. "Perhaps you would like to go outside?" Severus asked. Harry nodded and the pair exited his room. In the garden the rest of their small family was waiting for them. All of his friends were looking forward to seeing Harry outside for the first time since the fall of the Ministry and the death of Dumbledore. The Headmaster had died just weeks prior to the defeat of Voldermort and the Deatheaters. Within six months the new regime had taken control and Harry had been wed to Severus as his allies had been wed to their spouses. Harry thought it ironic that, had they waited three more days, he would have disappeared into the Muggle world. The Boy-Who-Lived had plans to disappear in America. Unfortunately, his plans had been canceled indefinitely. When Harry saw the other 'Founders' he had to repress a growl. He was very close to hating all of them, Severus included. All his life he had lived by the whims of others. He had hoped that that would cease to be the case once Voldermort was dead. Now, though, he had days where he thought he should have let the bastard win. Harry never vocalized these thoughts, not even to his friends. They felt that their lives were better than they could have been and none of them were being abused. However, he was fast approaching a time when he would no longer be able to hold his tongue. Lucius looked up when he saw his best-friend and his mate enter the garden. Lucius felt a twinge of remorse at the sight of the bracelet on the boy's wrist, but reminded himself that it was necessary. Harry was the most powerful wizard alive and if he wanted, he could destroy them all. The power enabler kept him from controlling the full capacity of his magic and kept them all safe. "Severus, Harry," Lucius greeted them coolly. Severus nodded and Harry bared his teeth in a parody of a smile. He heard Ron sigh from beside Lucius and stifled a chuckle. "Harry," Ron said softly. Harry turned cool, green eyes on his friends, but said nothing. "Really, Harry, this is for your own good," Draco drawled. "My own good?" Harry asked softly. "This way you won't be tempted to meddle," Remus said softly. Harry laughed bitterly. "Oh, that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. You know what? I was going to keep quiet, to keep the peace, but FUCK YOU ALL! Do you realize that, had you waited just a few more days, I wouldn't have even been a problem? I was going to go to America and see the sights, then off myself. I don't give a damn about the wizarding world. If I had known I would spend the rest of my life as a fucking slave, I would have just let that red eyed bastard kill me," he snarled. Ron and Hermione blanched while Remus backed away from the force of the boy's rage. In the year that Harry had been imprisoned, none of them had seen the force of the rage that lived inside of him. The boy rarely spoke to any of them, Severus included. They certainly had not expected to hear those words. "Why would you want to kill yourself?" Draco asked, stunned. "Why ? How about the fact that I was raised by a pedophile and his demented bitch of a wife. How about the fact that I lived in a fucking cupboard for most of my life? How about the fact that once dear old Voldie was resurrected I witnessed the death of everyone he killed? How about the fact that the only person I have ever loved or trusted completely was hacked to pieces by Voldermort and I could only watch helplessly while he died in my fucking vision? How about the fact that I felt everything they felt. Every blow, every cut, every rape! I felt it all. I was told I was the savior of the fucking world when all I wanted was to be unseen by anyone. How about the fact that I finally thought I had a say as to when I would go, and you, all of you, took it away from me?" Harry screamed as he backed the taller boy away from him. "I hate you all. If I could get free I would kill every one of you now, just because you denied me my own end!" Harry felt arms encircle him, and struggled weakly. He had no idea that he was crying. All he knew was that the pain and the bitterness had finally spilled out and he wanted someone to pay for all that he had been denied. Severus, like the others, had been frozen by the force of Harry's words and his pain. He had no idea that this had been simmering under the boy's placid exterior. It was Ginny who had moved forward and caught Harry in her arms. If there was anyone there who knew what Harry had gone through, it was Ginny. Harry collapsed in on himself and just allowed her to hold him. Hermione was sobbing and Ron was pale and being held up by his father-in-law. What had they done to Harry by forcing him to live? After a while, Harry stopped crying. He took several deep breaths and they watched mournfully as his _expression once again became the placid mask they had grown used to. He pulled away from Ginny and walked further into the gardens. They had what they wanted. Harry was alive and under control. That was all they had wanted and that was all they would get from him. _______________________________________________________________________________ Severus gave Harry several hours of freedom and isolation. Their friends had gone and he was now alone with his husband. Severus' lips twisted at this. What would Albus say if he could see how badly they had handled things with Harry? The old wizard had worked hard to regain Harry's trust after the truth had come out in the boy's sixth year. It was bad enough knowing that Albus had lied to him about why his parents were dead and why he had needed to control his visions. Then Black had died at the Ministry. It wasn't until Narcissa was murdered by Voldermort that the truth of Lucius' allegiance came out. Within days, all of the mistakes concerning Lucius and Draco came back to haunt Albus. For a long time they thought that Harry would be lost to the dark. Instead, the boy had taken Albus aside. No one knew what happened in those three hours or what was said, but when it was over the pair seemed easier with one another. No one grieved more for Albus than Harry when he was murdered. Severus knew that Harry didn't love him or really even care for him. Severus knew that Harry had never gotten over the death of Neville Longbottom. It had been a shock to everyone when the pair had planned a commitment ceremony just at the rise of the war. Neville had been betrayed by an auror everyone thought could be trusted and was taken by Deatheaters. By the time his mangled corpse was returned Harry had been sedated and his screams had rendered him mute for nearly a month. Severus cursed himself for not realizing that that was when Harry gave up. Not long after Neville died, Harry had become more intense and committed to fighting the war. Severus was unsure how to win Harry's heart or friendship, but he was more than willing to try. Harry turned to look at him and smiled coldly, before standing and walking to him. "Come to take me back in?" Severus smiled sadly and nodded. Harry just walked towards the house. He didn't say another word. What was there to say? He had been betrayed by the people he trusted, but really, there was nothing new about that. As they walked to the house, Severus watched his young husband for some sign of what he should do. He wanted to deepen his relationship with Harry, but how could he do that when the boy so obviously despised him for what he had done. Harry had greatly enjoyed his day in the sun, even though it had started with him admitting to the rage inside of him. The threats that he had screamed at them were just that; threats. Harry knew that he would never be able to turn on the 'Founders', there was too much of a risk that any backlash of magic would harm his friends. As much as he hated Severus and the others for what they had done to him, he still loved Ron and their family too much to ever harm them. He knew that today would change things between himself and Severus, exactly how, though, he did not know. Perhaps one day he would be able to forgive Severus, but for now the wounds he bore hurt too badly to forgive anyone.
