Point symbol pillar is only a symbol and symbols are not stretched on maps. 
Symbol will never look realistic, even x/y-sized.

For drawing realistic pillars (or stalactites or stalagmites), we are using 
line border in point:pillar (stalactite|stalagmite) context (usually in 
sections or elevations) or line flowstone (usually in plans).
