According Beat I agree with you. It is really big work turning surveying of caves from head to legs. According the organisation of measurement it is by me better to measure the splay shots for section first and draw the section. Then maesure 3-4 splay shots of one wall and draw it. Another 3-4 splay shots and draw again. Then second wall in the same manner and at last the important features on floor and ceiling. At last measure next leg. This is the way as drawer not to be overdistox-ed. > Disto Display > A new distoX, recently acquired and upgraded by a colleague has > developed some permanently âlitâ pixels (about 20 of them) in the > middle of where the inclination is displayed â even when the device > is powered off. > He is a âdistoX & paperâ surveyor (and like me has aging eyes) so > the difficulty in reading the display is particularly frustrating. > Is there a solution to this? > - New display from Leica? > - New circuit board from Leica? I'm affraid no way. The Disto A3 is not selling more long time, you may find with luck the Stabila LE50 instead. And with this instruments only one repair is possible : to change unit to unit. No any service parts. Good luck with your new exploration! BTW: check http://cachtice.speleo.sk/laser there is an idea of target for laser surveying. Happy caving Martin S.
