Four shows in five nights, a great week of music overall in California
this week. Driving from North to South, watching the fever turn from
Giants to Angels and back again. And the Angels sure came on time this
year.

SLO was the first time in all my shows that I was able to take the setlist
and knew all the songs. Actually, that's not true, I had to ask what the
first song was called. Here's the actual setlist, I am positive I caught
it all.  I hope.

SLO 10/26 Setlist
Set I:
Planet of Inexperience (new Marc instrumental tune, almost in the same
vein as Clementine & Driving Backwards)
Nellie Jean ->
Aptos
The Nashua Rose
Rhythm-a-Ning

Set II:
drum n' bass n' mouthharp jam ->
Fuji ->
Jumpin' Jack Flash ->
Else (!!!! so sweet, love this Built to Spill cover so much!!!)
Mr. Meowskers
SoftWarmSimpleWonder
E: Dogs -> Without Me -> On Bikes (full Eminem jam as requested by D)

Four Phenomenal Moments From Four Shows...

Arcata:
Extra delay, really used well all through Sometimes True to Nothing and
Sorry, and Brad used that delay to his advantage and broke Sorry out of
it's shell, extending the song by at least a few minutes and diverting it
right into Tenfold, a really creative jam.

San Francisco:
You Might Say, the first time in a long time, just something about that
melody when it's scatted that makes the world smile, I won't forget that
any time soon.

Los Angeles:
Built Frisell (great new tune) and Tim's Blues to open set two, then a
nice Jumby to follow! The highlight of the night HAD to be the 20 minute,
totally out there "Spice Groove" which was incredible, danceable,
beautiful. I thought that couldn't be topped, but then Andrew took a drum
solo at the end of the set where he was playing not only the drums, but
drumming on Brad's guitar as he moved his hands, while playing drums with
his feet. The kid is so amazing when he sits down at a drum kit, what a
natural at his craft.

San Luis Obispo:
The combo of "Fuji -> Jumpin Jack Flash -> Else, Mr. Meowskers" last night
was 25 minutes of pure beauty. And the encore, the whole place screaming
and clapping in unison, it was like the band joined us for the encore.
People were absolutley going nuts, it was a great feeling, warm on the
inside for sure.
