When you disseminate as much Slip as Jim does, it's perfectly
understandable that once in a blue moon, something will fall through
the cracks.
Perhaps you could give him another chance, Lucas. After all, he is
one of the most generous members of our motley scene and directly
responsible for much the live Slip out there, not to mention tons of
show reports, setlists and other great discussion. I wish I was as
conscientious and scrupulous a fan as he.
in humble defense of "the dean" Jim C.,

hey, i respect the contribution the guy makes. but, imo, when it comes to
him stiffing me, it's the principle of it. i have been nothing but polite
when contacting him, and i have reminded him. for whatever reason he has
not followed through on his promises. needless to say, a few discs isn't
going to make or break anyone. again, i have nothing but respect for what
he does for the community, but my experience is as i've described
it. oh well.
i don't have many slip shows, but i have a variety of stuff on my
list. i'll do b&ps for whoever wants something off my list as a wob
tax. my list is at http://db.etree.org/xlucasx

woah woah woah, you need to watch your mouth, man. Jim C. is one of the
most generous and hard-working souls that the slip community (to say
nothing of the larger live-music trading community) has ever seen.
He has kept impeccable track of the slip's setlists on his site, as well
as archived and spread more slip shows that any of us could ever hope to
do. If he's been busy recently it is for good reason, and we should
respect the fact that there are plenty of things more important than a few
dollars in DATs and postage.
i am surprised that he has slacked on a couple b&ps, but one of out a
thousand isn't bad; i know that there are some people here that have sent
me blanks and never got anything back, but that is just what happens
sometimes when trading music, and often it is simply a lack of
organization (for me, that is. some people, of course, simply like to
steal blank cds).
I should say that this letter by Lucas was not strongly worded at all.
It was polite and short, and didn't rant on and on. if it was anyone
other than jim crichton (or jason or moshe, perhaps) I would keep my big
mouth shut. But Jim has done WAY too much for us and we should all thank
him. Thank you, Jim, we love ya'.
peace,
colin
