Hey everyone in Slipland!

Well, Toad's Place was a good time, but not quite what last weekend was (at
least for me). Here's the rundown:

Set 1:
Dear Milena
Get Me With Fuji
Chicago
Built Frissel
It's All Right Ma (Instrumental)>
The Times They Are A-Changin'

Set 2:
Poor Boy
?? ("Whisper Me off to Sleep" lyric)
Mudslide
Johnny's Tune>
Islands
Tinderbox

Encore:
Weight of Soloman>
Sorry

Good show, but nothing really shone until the encore. There was something funky going on before Dear Melina. Sounded to me like Phase One, but Clinton mentioned Landing. I guess I should listen to Angels one more time. I've been listening to a lot of Dear Melina lately (and John who I went to the show with is a BIG fan of that tune), so I was getting down from the getgo! The It's All Right Ma was instrumental, but the Times They Are A-Changin' had Brad on lyrics. Very special, considering the current international situation. No moment of silence/prayer for peace, but this one and Tinderbox more than filled the space. Brad was on the Strat for about half the night includeing everything from Chicago until the end of the first set (as well as a significant portion of the second set).

The first two tunes of the second set were with Brad on the nylon-stringed
acoustic. Mudslide was somewhat less than both Fall River and Northampton,
but still fun to hear and shake down to. Johnny's is always fun to hear, but
it seemed a little easy for BAM to do in New Haven. In any case, Islands was
sweet, but I was hoping for a Nellie Jean. Tinderbox was AWESOME to hear,
one of my favorites. Tonight it was "Trust in the Patriot Missles, much
sacredness is lost..." to take the place of the moment of silence. Good set
closer, and Andrew really stepped it up a notch on this one!

The encore was definitely the highlight. Weight of Soloman TWICE in a WEEK!!
HOLY COW, just send me to heaven right now!!!! I've been singing this one
ever since the show in Fall River, and now I think it's finally purged from
my present consciousness! The jam out of Sorry took on a whole new
character, but the band was respectful to the establishment when they
turned on the lights at 1 am and ended the jam where it laid. It could have
been an whole new level of The Slip for New Haven, but.... In any case, I
remember someone saying something about Marc playing this tune when he felt
he fucked up on some level. Well, I think the whole encore was an apology
for the somewhat lackluster show compared to last weekend, but it was nice
to hear nonetheless.

Well, thus closes my east coast visit, and it's been great. I want to thank
Brian, Ben, and Rachel in Providence for hooking me up with a comfy couch
after the Fall River show, as well as Julia and her birthday party for the
good times in Northampton. Clinton, thanks for the discs and everyone look
out for an offer of the Northampton shows sometime in the next week or so.
Look out UVM, Michigan, and BEYOND!!! The Slip is coming to town!!!!

Peace, Adam
