I don't know if it was Amanda Tapping's choice to go or the uppers. But even if it was hers, it would be understandable as they didn't utilize her character to any real degree last season. Pretty much the only time she wasn't 'back on Earth', they literally had to have her stuck in an elevator for 90% of the episode, otherwise, she would have solved the problem of the week before the first commerical break. Not only was she a Col. with 10 years of offworld experience, she's one of the smartest humans - ever. And they didn't do diddly with that. When Teal'c guest starred - it was awesome. When Daniel was on this season - awesome. Any ep with Carter - meh.

To: "The Unique Geek" <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, October 15, 2008, 9:52 PM I have never seen an actor leave a sci-fi show gracefully. (Except for maybe Wash or Shepard Book but that was in a movie). I just saw episode 1 of Season 5 of Stargate Atlantis and Colonial Carter's exit, while expected, was rather brisk. It was as if they shot the entire sequence over the weekend after a couple hours of Rock Band. Very few "regular" cast members were on hand and it was ... well it was a clean break. So whether you're a Trill or Trolip (Tasha Yar anyone?) saying "Thanks but no thanks, I've had enough" doesn't do your character any good on tv. Does anyone remember seeng the back of Jerry and sibling Charlie O'Connell's head in episode 1 of season five? That was the funnest backward hand waving I had ever seen. Jerry's character facing away from the camera and waving at everyone else without looking back once, "Go on without me. I'll be right there. Go on. Don't wait." Stops waving and continues firing into the darkness while hiding behind a shrubbery. Everyone jumps through the slide tunnel. Character(s) written off. Clean break. I'm sure these aren't the only examples just the ones I can think of at the moment. I hope Amanda Tappings new show was worth it. I know you have to move on as an actor and person but still meanthinks this new show Sanctuary is on a tight leash with the suits upstairs in the Sci-Fi network booth. At least it's not on Fox though. They would have sunk 10 million into it then canceled after two episodes. http://www.sanctuaryforall.com/index.php --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Unique Geek" group.
