Fellow Unique Geeker Cary, his SO, and I went and saw the new Bond flick
yesterday. The consensus was one of unimpressedness. While I greatly enjoyed
Casino Royale (I believe we at TUG rated it one of the best movies of 2006 on a
podcast), the latest 007 adventure wasn't all that adventurous.
The main story may have been ok, but the execution and subplots weren't very
compelling and were, at times, a little confusing. Some of the action
sequences were confusing in the way they were shot, as well. It was like, "ok,
he threw a rope with a hook on it . . . why did that make the boat flip over
and blow up?".
And the new bad guys plot was up there with Luthor's plan to build a kryptonite
island as a retirement community or whatever his plan was.
If you like Jason Bourne movies, QoS may be worth a rental, but it's probably
more appropriate to put at the bottom of the Netflix que.
