Hey, Richard and I watched In the Name of the King: (Based on the title of the video game) Dungeoun Siege last week; so, I think I'll be ok. Actually ItNotK:(Bottoftvg)DS wasn't that bad. It wasn't good by any means, of course. I actually would have prefered it to have been worse so that it would have been more entertaining. (SPOILERS!) The casting was kind of suprising. In addition to Jason Statham in the lead role, it had John Rhys-Davies as the king's Magus, Leelee Sobieski, who played the King's Magus' daughter, not the king's daughter (it took us 45 minutes into the film to figure that out), Ron Perlman, Claire Forlani, Matthew Lillard as the king's nephew, not his son (an hour to figure that out), Ray Liotta as the bad guy (dressed as Liberacie), and Burt Reynolds as the king - seriously. I'm thinking all these people signed on before Uwe Boll was assigned as the director. Kristen Loken may have signed after or may have been obligated due to Blood Rayne. Aside: Uwe Boll is coming out with Blood Rayne III. How did that happen after the original, much less Blood Rayne II! While some of the nuances of the movie weren't communicated well, e.g., character relationships, and story was really predictable, it didn't completely suck as much as one would have thought. The kurg/goblin/orc/whater makeup was kind of weak, and there was the usual 'wizard doesn't do crap until the very end of the movie' business, but there was really only one time we had to call shenanegins (the rope swinging part, for those who have seen it). Although, there was one time we had to stop and rewind due to a WTFF?!?! moment. We think it was one of the script editors who, upon finding out Uwe Boll was directing, told another script editor that UB would film and put anything into a movie was was in the script. SE2 calls SE1 on that. The following conversation ensued: SE1 "No, seriously; he will put anything in. Ok, during one of the massive battle scenes, after the archers fire their arrows and the two sides engage in meele combat, the kurg guys will start to use catapults to bomard the middle of field." SE2 "Well, the kurg are just Ray Liotta's pawns; so, he'd could be ok with sacrificing them." SE1 "No, no, see, then a kurg gets into the catapult basket to be launched." SE2 "Uh, ok. That would be a little weird - but filmable. I mean, having a kurg land on you would suck." SE1 "Wait for it - then the other kurg light him on fire and launch him!" SE2 "WTF?! Well, I guess if a kurg landing on you would suck, having a flamming kurg land ou woudl suck more." SE1 "Nah, instead of the flaming kurg landing on anyone, he'll hit a tree! Wait, Ray Liotta is in this movie?" SE2 "What would be the point of that? No way even Uwe Boll would film that and put it in a movie!" Alas, he did. I will give credit that, after Ray Liotta took out Gimli, I mean John Rhys-Davies, in a wizard duel with much more actual wizarding that Gandolf and Count Dooku's fight, it took more than just Jason Statham chin to take him out. Props to it not being that easy. Had I actually paid to see that movie and it not having been 2:30am when we started it, I'd have been more displeased. But if nothing else is on cable other than Cat Woman, Blood Rayne, and Blood Rayne II, it's not completely unwatchable. Ron
