Actually, in the days of NT and 2000, and I even think in 2003, there was a limited number of days you were allowed to use it. If I remember correctly, you would not be allowed to log in after the expiration. I honestly do not know what they will do with Windows 7 beta. Maybe after the production release they stop sending Windows updates. I installed it on vm last night and did not recognize any time limit.
