I'd really like to know how the editors work or don't.  On one hand, they would 
seem to screw a writer by forcing them to include EVENTs into story lines, on 
the other, they should be the people telling writers "Nice idea, but we killed 
Martian Manhunter 3 months ago; so, you can't have him show up next month.  
Also, Batman can't lift a car above his head."  The later isn't interfering in 
the creative process as much as it is keeping continuity (gasp!) and keeping 
the cretaed world 'true'.  Somebody remind me to ask comic writers about 
editors once we start doing interviews ;)
