It wasn't great, but it was still "ok".  Not worth full price, or even matinee,
really, but still worth renting.  I didn't see any real plot holes or have any
other issues, it just could have used more action.  I thought it was going to
be more about John Conner and not the other guy - with JC, but whatever.

I'm not too familiar with Mad Max, but, while there was some similarity to one
of the bazillion aspects of BSG, I wouldn't call it a rip-off.  Sure, the
humans' plan was basically to Locutus of Borg, but even that worked out a
little differently.

And as to the origianal Terminator's R rating, we just watched it last night,
and, by today's standards, it probably would have been PG-13, too, given that
the violence wasn't really that explicit, it only had 3 MF's, and only 2
seconds of Linda Hamilton's goods.  The smoking by the cops would be the most
objectionable thing now a days.

The more I think of it the worse it gets. From the blatant ripoffs (Road
Warrior, Battlestar Galactica, the list goes on) to the complete lack of any
character development, this was a stinker. For corroboration I give you this-
it couldn't beat out the sequel to Night at the Museum, and will clear just $42
million on a holiday weekend. I almost feel slighted, because I don't think I'm
in the demographic for this sort of movie any more. It lacked depth,
cleverness, story development, intrigue, or any element that could graduate it
from long music video to a worthwhile movie. The preteen sitting behind me
thought it was "awesome", and for him I'm sure it was- it was visually pleasing
with some cool concepts- post-apocalyptic robot versus humans war with lots of
fighting and impending doom. Kind of like the Star Wars prequels (kids loved
em, most of the fans of the prior triology of films thought they were awful),
this seems to be geared towards a wider and
younger audience. Notice the PG-13 rating as opposed to the original
Terminator's R.

I look forward to dissecting this fly-magnet of a movie later.

Now that I've seen it, it was pretty good.  But not the usual Todd likes
everything good.  There were a few parts that were just kind of slow.  And
there were a few moments when I was trying to think of had the other movies
happened yet, and was this an alternate time line, and my brain exploded.
