I guess we should step back a bit on this one. We knew Bruce Wayne wasn't dead. They revealed that Bruce was still alive in prehistoric times, so it's not a case of "return from death". It's more a case of hyping the new Batman - Dick Grayson, new monthly titles, and reorganizing the Bat-family characters completely. There was a tremendous hype machine for this, and now some of it's simply going to be un-done when Bruce returns.
So the bottom line of a comic company doing "take backs" on a major change is still there. It's just not directly related to a death.

What... you're not surprised?

I hate to sound like an old, bitter fangirl, but superhero death has
become such a cheap gimmick in comics. If the editors decide to "kill"
a major character, the news has no impact. It's only a matter of time
before they're resurrected. Jason Todd was the last straw for me. But
then again, comics aren't a static medium — and I guess publishers
have to do something to bring in new readers.
