It's funny how the box office works on your mind. Like, almost all of us
agreed that the second Transformers movie was terrible, but it made so much
money. The one guy who liked it wrote a post to the effect of - "It can't
suck. It's made 400 million dollars!" At the time, I thought that was
annoying. Like, it just meant there were a lot of suckers and that box-office
returns are no indication of quality.

But...Avatar has made sooo much money (already one of the top five all time
worldwide) that this is the first thing that leaps into my head to "defend" it
when people say it's no good. Like, the knee-jerk thing to say is, "It's made
almost more money than anything ever! Guess that trumps your puny review!"
But I can't do that and remain consistent. I guess the point is, when the
figures work in your favor, you want to use them, but it's not fair.

So...though the movie is by all definitions a "blockbuster," I guess that
should be left out of any discussion of it. Besides, since I saw it for
freeeeeee, it's not like I contributed to the number. Haw!

I really did look for those people...

because I didn't want them to catch me!

Since this has become the defacto 'Avatar thread':

First, I enjoyed Ravenface's post. Good stuffs! I believe you went
looking for them. I believe in you, Salmon Oyster.

I enjoyed the movie. I see where Carey is coming from with the 15
year old comment. This may very well be this generation's Star Wars.
Time will tell.

My girlfriend and I saw the 3D version. I thought it was neat, I
liked it, but honestly I think I could have done just fine without the
3D. My girlfriend had to take the glasses off fairly early in the
film, but seemed to enjoy it anyway. (She didn't like the parts where
the animals were hurt though. Be they digital or no she didn't like
the representation.)

Without getting too spoilerific (are we in the safezone now?), it was
probably the only Sci-Fi movie that I walked away from feeling vaguely
guilty. I am the white man who shoved all the Native Americans off
their land. I should feel bad about that, right?

And in going to the film it (and by association me) gave my girlfriend
a headache.

Well crap.
