Quick thoughts for you...
I'd keep going on those Teen Titans trades you were reading.
Marvel's "Runaways" is a good series to read in trade. You can get them in small digest form (cheaper) or regular size trade.
Marvel has a Visionaries line of trades that might interest you. It's a good way to read an iconic take on a character from creators you trust. For example, Daredevil Visionaries: Frank Miller is a really good series of trades. There is a Hulk Visionaries: Peter David series that's also good. I'm in the process of checking out the Fantastic Four Visionaries: Walt Simonson and Thor Visionaries: Walt Simonson.
Geoff John's early Flash work is good. You can get nearly all his first run in trade now.
If you are in a goofy Bronze Age mood, I enjoy the black-n-white Essential reprints of "Marvel Team-up". Those are really fun, you get a variety of characters, and they aren't expensive. DC has similar team-up stories in their black-n-white Showcase line for "Brave and the Bold" and "DC Comics Presents".
If you are in a Star Wars mood, the "Star Wars Legacy" comics are probably the best Star Wars comics ever done. I love them.
Finally, if you want to bust-a-gut laughing, get the Best of Twisted Toyfare Theater collections. They are so funny, it makes me want to throw up.
