I was perusing Google News this morning, and had an epiphany- Windows laptops are beginning to surpass Apple in quality of components. Apple's market strategy has always been a mix of superior customer relations/service and offering a higher quality product (albiet at a premium). The makers of Windows-based laptops have quietly caught up and surpassed them, though. Take a look at the typical non-budget laptop- many are being made with the new Intel i-series chips (and you can get a quad-core chip on many), 320 gig plus hard drives are standard, and I've seen many with a one gig video card. Now take a look at the Macbook pro- the 13 inch comes with a standard 160 gig HD, an older Intel dual core chip, an older video card (with no dedicated memory). You can upgrade some of those, but once you do the laptop really starts reflecting the "Apple premium". I can get an Alienware gaming laptop for less than a much poorer equipped Macbook Pro. Apple can't even rely on the superiority of their OS anymore; Windows 7 has closed the gap. Opinions?
