If anyone is a World Cup fan, you might enjoy my current ongoing columns leading up to kickoff on June 11: "Countdown to the World Cup (of Eating and Drinking)".
Right now they're focused on the actual teams. Once the event starts, I switch over to talking about where I watched the games, what the food was like, what beer I was drinking, and so on. I also do a competition among the various venues where I and my family watch the games, with the winner (best atmosphere, best food, etc) getting a trophy at the end. And I also declare an "Offical Beer of the World Cup (of Eating and Drinking)". I did this during the 2006 World Cup and people enjoyed it, but somehow the whole thing got deleted from both my computer and the server.
