I'm using a Lenova ThinkPad T-series for work.  It's my second one and I love these computers.

Our IT department set-up these machine before I got my hands on them, so it's possible they removed some annoying programs.  Assuming they didn't remove anything, the pre-installed stuff doesn't impede anything.

Is this for work or personal?  If for personal, definitely customize it to your wants and desires.  If for work, do you need a "hot rod" super-optimized machine, or just something to get you through the day (the latter for me at work)?   If you just need to get through the day with no problems, try it as is and see how it works for you.  Who knows, perhaps some of the pre-installed programs will work well for you.  For example, the "RecordNow" DVD/CD burning software works quickly and efficiently without eating up much processor power.

Just my non-techie two cents.

I know it's a pain, but I usually just reinstall Windows. However, if you
are getting Windows 7 with this new machine, Windows 7 is super easy to
install and only takes about 45 minutes to do so.
If you need assistance with it, Serv has my number, just give me a ring
and I will be more than happy to assist you.
