Actually it comes down to the INSANE price the BBC charges American stations to run Doctor Who. It's hard for a channel like SyFy to make back their money. This has always been the case, even back in the 1980s when it was mostly PBS fodder.

that speaks volumes...SyFy makes super cheesie movies like Mecha-Gator vs Robo-Skunk Ape vs Cyborg-Hammerhead, and yet SyFy dumps Dr Who. CLASSIC. So that must mean SyFy likes their cheese flix better than Dr Who and so do the advertisers!
