1. Look up "services" you can
disabl<http://www.vistarewired.com/2007/02/18/services>e.
   For instance, windows tablet tools, it's always running even if you don't
   have a tablet.
   2. Disable all the pretty graphics, themes, sidebars, etc.
   3. Make sure you have the latest drivers for everything.
   4. Disable startup items you don't need, like messenger, etc.  Look at
   msconfig to see everything.
