Tried Sun Drop and Diet Sun Drop soda last night. It tasted great! It's been around for ages up North, but is just now making it's way into the South. It's a competitor for Mountain Dew and Mello Yellow. However, Sun Drop wins the caffeine content battle! Especially the Diet version (25% higher caffeine content than Mountain Dew)!
Diet Sun Drop - 69 mg of Caffeine per 12 oz
Sun Drop - 63 mg of Caffeine per 12 oz
Sun Drop - 63 mg of Caffeine per 12 oz
Mountain Dew - 55 mg of Caffeine per 12 oz (same for Diet)
Mello Yellow - 51 mg of Caffeine per 12 oz (same for Diet)
Diet Coke - 46 mg of Caffeine per 12 oz
Dr Pepper - 41 mg of Caffeine per 12 oz
Coca-Cola Classic - 34 mg of Caffeine per 12 oz
Sodas like Jolt and Vault still surpass Sun Drop, but they are certainly not Diet.
The U.S. Food & Drug Administration allows a maximum of 72 mg. of caffeine per 12 oz. serving (6 mg / oz)
