Jason, the FE is a general engineering exam. The morning session is on all types of engineering along with ethics, economics, and mathematics. The afternoon session is focused on one discipline -- in my case I took Electrical. The PE I am going to take is for Control Systems, which, since I am an Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineer, seems appropriate.
