Robin was worried about his hair and his face. Batman had given him some cool
cream that he thought worked, but it usually took a couple of days and he
couldn't be sure if it was the cream or just, you know, time passing. The
pimple he had now was brand new, and he rubbed the Bat-cream slowly and sadly
into it. How many days would it take? Maybe he would get into a fight
tonight, he thought. Maybe I'll let them punch me in the face and people will
think it's a fight-thing and not a zit thing. He closed his eyes and imagined
a bunch of guys in hats punching him in the pimples.

He smelled Raven before he saw her. His senses were excellent. She used that
teleportation thing where she is just there when she wasn't there a second ago.
It's not like when Batman does it. Like when Batman does it, you can imagine
the whole journey from where he started to where he ended up in front of you.
Like, he used ropes and things. With Raven, it was like, she could have been
in some kind of dimension where rocks have faces and stuff and everything is on
fire and then, ka-doosh, she's on the roof with you and maybe looking at your
new haircut which you don't think turned out right.

Hey, he said. Hello, she said back. She never said hey the way other kids
did. She always said hello like an adult. Robin had heard she'd had, like, a
teacher for a dad. She asked him how he was doing, and he looked down at the
floor which was also the roof of a building. That was something he thought
about sometimes, how for him it was a floor, but for the people inside, beneath
him, it was a ceiling. He said he was doing cool. She was like, I am glad you
are well. He could see his reflection in that bead in her head. He didn't
think he looked so bad. She disappeared again. He smelled that she was gone.

A green cat came up to him and was like, duuude. It was Changeling and not a
real cat. Robin knew because it was talking. Hey, said Robin. Duuuude, said
Changeling and turned into a different kind of cat but, Robin noticed, still a
green one. Robin said he knew what Changeling meant, and Changeling turned
into a green lion and was like, cool hair, bro, and Robin wasn't sure if he
meant it, but he thought maybe he did mean it.
