Re predicting box office grosses-- I think part of the problem with Super 8 was that its trailer looked like a hundred other movies I've seen in the last thirty years. It generated no interest in me.
With X-Men, it was essentially a fourth sequel to a movie from ten- plus years ago, and a prequel, to boot. There was no detectable buzz about it, as far as I could tell-- until it came out and got such good reviews, at which point I went to see it. So I think it probably did even better than it "should" have. As for GL... I think it'll have a good opening; maybe better than Thor. Certainly my comics friends seem much more excited about it than they were pre-Thor. But I expect a bigger dropoff after the opening. So-- whatever Thor earned opening weekend, add $10 mil to that. --Van Sent from my iPhone -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Unique Geek" group.
