Even though I have posted it before, I will post again. I had already predicted

I'm going to go slightly higher, only because school is now out in most parts
of the country. X-Men was released while school was still in. While you'd
think school shouldn't impact the weekend gross, you'd be surprised how much
"summer" can boost ticket sales.

Shag says $65 million

So, it opens this weekend.

I've been very confused by the last few weeks. Some films I thought would make
a lot of money (X-Men, Super 8) made only a little bit (relative to, say Fast
Five or Thor).

But, GL has got to be the most-advertised film of the last three years.
Unavoidable commercials, posters, etc. They've easily spent half the film's
budget on the marketing.

Will that have an effect? Will it's being in 3D boost the numbers?

People are starting to shun 3D, so....probably not. There's lots of marketing,
but it looks terrible (to me. Beyond the costume, the flying characters appear
not to engage properly with the background). I know massive CGI is the "visual
language of film now" (or whatever phrase Luke used), but it looks good in,
say, Transformers, and bad in GL. People can tell the difference.

Also, the lantern looks like a hard candy.

But! There's nothing going up against it except Mr. Popper's Penguins.
But! There was nothing going against Super 8 and it only made $38 million.

So....

I predict....for opening weekend domestic box office....

$45 million American Dollars. Less than X-Men: First Class and much less than
a hit. I say, they've thrown good money after bad over-promoting it and
"fixing" the graphics.

So....

Ravenface: $45 million
