The main thing which so far has left a sour taste in my mouth of this relaunch is the overhauling of Superman, especially in light of the fact that Batman himself is evidently not changing in any significant way (obviously some of the Batfamily are). I am not interested in reading this alien, aloof, lonely stranger version of Superman which they have hyped up. I'm sorry, but I am not. Superman is one of us despite his origins. At least that's the Superman I am interested in reading about. I mean you want to overhaul someone like Captain Atom or Hawk & Dove or Hawkman, sure, they deserve it because clearly they have some kinks which need to be fixed. But to so radically overhaul Superman -- and not in the way that Byrne and company did in the 80s, which was to update the existing elements, but in this sort of modernist, "make him edgy because Truth Justice And The American Way are lame" approach -- says that they do not have any faith in the character which created this whole genre.
