If we're talking about comic novels, I highly recommend Greg Rucka's "Batman: No Man's Land" novel.  Great stuff!  I also liked Roger Stern's "Death and Life of Superman".

Did NOT care for Marv Wolfman's novelization of "Crisis on Infinite Earths" nor the JLA Flash novel "Stop Motion" by Mark Schultz.

The Death and Life of Superman is a great book.  More than anything it boils down that era of Superman into one convenient novel.  What a great read.  I am looking forward to getting to that era on FCTC as well.

I will suggest that you pick up Denny O'Neil's KNIGHTFALL novelization as well.  It is a fantastic book as well.
