Hasbro is much more interested in creating new stories out of their properties than looking back on what has come before, at least when it comes to media. They have no problem making toys aimed at adult collectors but looking at movies like GI Joe: ROC and the Transformers trilogy, it's clear that they want to push franchises in directions which can be mined going forward.
