I think it can be safely said (or written) that the strength of the Marvel
films is that they had, on the whole, remained faithful to the spirit of
the character.  There are little tweaks and updates here and there but at
the end of the day Iron Man is very recognizable as Iron Man, Hulk as the
Hulk, Thor as Thor, etc.  Why in the name of all that is holy and good in
the world is the television end looking at the success of the films and
going, "That's great, but we're going to change the character completely to
bring him or her to the small screen."  Granted it worked for the Bill
Bixby INCREDIBLE HULK series but that was a very different time and place.
