As the resident Hawkman fan, I am floored by this turn of events. Absolutely floored. And not in a good way.
I don't understand why DC is putting so many eggs in the basket of someone like Rob Liefeld. I have been enjoying Savage Hawkman and the new, alien-centric take which Tony Daniel and Philip Tan were taking the character. I am still very excited about the new take on Gentleman Ghost we are getting in the next story. But this is a dark cloud on the horizon and, to me, pretty much says that the book is going to be cancelled in the second wave of cancellations and end up as little more than another failed Hawkman solo series. I didn't mind Rob's art on Hawk and Dove because, you know what, he helped create that iteration of Hawk and Dove. He was instrumental in Dawn having the look she does with the ponytail, which is one of my favorite heroine costumes in comics. So I was cool with that even if I thought the art was really only useful for the action. But plotting? And plotting HAWKMAN, a character he has no connection with whatsoever? Ugh. Just plain UGH.
