I just discovered two really amazing apps this afternoon for my iPhone -- Splashtop CamCam and Splashtop Remote.
"Remote" lets you see your computer desktop and actually operate anything on it. So you can open and actually interact with a Word document, Powerpoint, etc-- or open iTunes and play music that's not actually on your iPhone. You can play movies, too, but you're somewhat limited by the speed of your connection, so there's a bit of skipping with them. I think this one also works on the iPad, but I haven't tried it yet there. "CamCam" is possibly even better. You log into it from your phone and it lets you activate your webcam remotely. So anything in front of your webcam is transmitted directly to your phone--video and audio. My plan is to position it in front of the television if there's some football game or other event on TV that I won't be home to see. But it also would work well for monitoring a house when no one's home, monitoring kids, etc. You have to install a free program on your computer to make this work. The app tells you where to get it. Both apps are on sale today-- they're usually around ten bucks each but I got each for around a dollar or two. --Van -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Unique Geek" group.
